Luqman the Wise

Luqman is described in Islamic traditions as an African man (often of Nubian origin) who worked as a carpenter or a shepherd. He was not a prophet, but he was endowed by Allah with exceptional wisdom (Hikmah) and insight.

Surah Luqman records his famous advices to his son, which serve as a foundational guide for character building and parenting. He warned his son against Shirk (associating partners with Allah), calling it a "great injustice," and urged him to establish prayer, command good, forbid evil, endure trials with patience, and walk on Earth with humility rather than arrogance.

Scholars highlight his life as proof that wisdom, piety, and closeness to Allah are not restricted by ancestry or status.
