Maryam bint Imran

Born to Hannah and Imran, Maryam was dedicated to the temple service of Jerusalem before birth. Under the guardianship of Prophet Zakariyya (Zachariah), she lived in a private sanctuary inside the temple, where she miraculously received out-of-season fresh fruits.

Angel Gabriel visited her to announce she would bear a pure son, Isa, through divine decree without a father. She withdrew to a remote place, gave birth beneath a palm tree, and returned to her community, who accused her of unchastity. She pointed to baby Isa, who spoke from the cradle to clear her name.

She is hailed in the Quran as the leader of all women and an exemplar of absolute chastity, faith, and devotion.
